Puerta de Alcala is next to El Retiro

Parque de El Retiro (El Retiro) is a park near the city. Retiro is a good place to soak up the sun, hang out with friends and go for a picnic. You can also rent a boat and go for a row in the pond.

On a sunny day the park might be quite full but it is easy to find a quiet place.

It is also a nice place to go jogging or exercise in. Casa de Campo is a good place for jogging too but I find El Retiro more beautiful and more fascinating.

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is a football stadium and Real Madrid's home stadium.

REAL MADRID - VILLARREAL

I watched Real Madrid´s football match at the stadium with my friends. That was one of the best experiences of my life! The stadium was bigger than I could imagine and the atmosphere was indescribable. By the way, Real Madrid won 3-0.

I recommend you to watch a game there even if you are not intersted in football. (We bought our tickets here.) It is also possible to take a tour in the stadium and it costs 13 euros.

Casa de Campo

Casa de Campo is a huge park which includes a Zoo and an amusement park. It is aslo a nice place to visit if you want to relax and go away from the city traffic. You get the best experience of the park if you are moving by bike because I think the park is more like a forest. If you are looking for a place to have a picnic, I recommend El Retiro. However Casa de Campo is worth of visit and I especially recommend to go to the Zoo.

El Rastro

El Rastro is a big open air flea market which is held every Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm. There you can find for example clothes, bags and jewellerys with a good price. It is also nice to walk around El Rastro even if you are not interested in buying anything.

If you are going there, remember to be extra careful with your belongings because El Rastro is full of people and also pickpockets.

Chocolateria San Gines

Chocolateria San Gines is known of Madrid's delicacy churro. You can order churros in many places but they make perhaps the best churros in San Gines. San Gines is near Plaza Mayor.

Hot chocolate and 6 churros cost 4 euros.
